A Patient/Consumer Perspective: Living with Home Parenteral Nutrition

For many years, Mary Patnode worked full-time as a school psychologist while infusing HPN at night. She is now retired, and enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with their grandchildren. Mary volunteered as a regional coordinator for the Oley Foundation for many years, organizing local support group meetings and talking with others receiving HPN. She now serves as president of the Oley Board of Trustees. The Oley Foundation is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of those requiring home IV and tube feeding through education, outreach, and networking. The Oley Foundation (800-776-OLEY or www.oley.org) is patient-centered and membership is free for home IV and tube feeding consumers/families/caregivers. They offer a bimonthly newsletter, online learning modules, consumer/clinician conferences, and other programs.
